SHOW DOWN THROW DOWN - 5 APRIL 2018

Bye week.  This presented an excellent opportunity to settle the score between Death Throw and Inside Wire from summer league.  During summer league both teams finished with the same win / loss record so another match was required to truly determine which was the more dominant team.  Battle lines were drawn and the teams decided were:

Inside Wire: Gangsta, Squirrel, Hells and Stacey

Death Throw:  Bandit, Shady, Van Damme and Da Swan

The match followed the same format of Summer League.  Double in 501.  Four pairs games; 16 singles games and a crucial all in team game to close it out.  From the outset it was clear that Inside Wire were in form and they stretched to an early 3 – 1 lead after the pairs.  This would be hard to overcome and while the singles were tit for tat most of the way The Wire clung on and had the match settled before the team game.

From the outset it was raining double 1’s, unfortunately for Van Damme he was smashing them a bit prematurely with a few stray arrows.  However he still had a solid night and closed out the biggest finish of the evening with 63.

The win was largely down to the team solidarity of Inside Wire, something that had been a  feature of the team all through summer league.  Stacey was a top performer taking out both his matches which would prove the difference in the end.

Result: 12 – 9 to Inside Wire.

CLUB NIGHT 58 - 30 JANRUARY 2018

It was a quiet start to the year with only Shady, Hells and Squirrel turning out for some quick fire cricket.  Right from the outset it was clear that Hells has been working hard on her game all summer as she gave the boys a run for their money in all of the matches.  If it wasn't for a bit of bad luck on the bull things could have been different.

Either way it was a good chance for those who showed to gain some ground on the top of the leaderboard.

CLUB NIGHT LI – 24 JULY 2017

Club night 51 was doomed with only Da Swan and Squirrel in attendance. But then like a bolt of lightening came The Don from the Wellington Darts club to kick some ass. Fair to say the Don has some serious experience and we would be no match unless some serious handicapping was employed, which we did…

To be fair Da Swan held his own in 501 and managed to win a couple of legs. The Don destroyed us in Cricket.

Golf was a different story and finally we found a game where the Death Throw regulars had an edge. Early in the match Squirrel was threatening the 9 hole golf record of 21 but bottled one of the last holes to blow out to 26 and giving Da Swan the win on 24. A quality game to practice some pressure doubles.

Good to have the Don along, hopefully we'll see him again, maybe even playing for NZ in the test.

RESULTS

501 – The Don

Cricket – The Don

Golf – Da Swan
