WELLINGTON DARTS VENUE REVIEWS

Visiting Wellington?  Looking for somewhere to play darts?  Look no further than our handy Wellington Darts Venue reviews below!

 LOVELOCKS SPORTS BAR

BOARDS: Two

USE FEE: No

COMMENTS:  Lovelocks is our regular Monday venue.  Mainly because there is good pizza on site and it is handy in the middle of the city.  The darts set up is pretty good, the boards have had a recent upgrade and are now reasonable quality.  You have to draw an oche on the floor with chalk which is a bit of a pain.  Now that it is a Lion Brewries product Lovies have  recently added some of the Panhead beer range to the fridge which is a nice improvement on the previous beer selection  products.  They have MAC's on tap which is OK too, just.

SEATOUN RETURNED SERVICES CLUB

BOARDS: Two

USE FEE: No but you need a membership yet they seem to welcome one off visitors

COMMENTS: This is a really nice place to play darts.  High quality boards with good lighting.  The oche set up is carpet edging screwed to the floor which works well.  The Seatoun RSA is a nice place to visit too with lots of cool old war memorabilia around.  Nothing like playing darts with machine gun handy for when you get frustrated with a double one checkout.  Even more surprising is a fridge full of craft beer and a couple of good rotating taps.  Top notch darts venue.

WATERLOO BACKPACKERS

BOARDS: One

USE FEE: No

COMMENTS:  The board is located in the corner of the bar in the Waterloo backpackers upstairs on level 1.  This was a nice board with a good thin spider but it has had some hard use and is pretty fucked at the moment.  It is usually a fairly quiet venue and nice place to play.  They have a good few craft beers on offer in bottles from the fridge.

BALLROOM COURTNEY PLACE

BOARDS: Two

USE FEE: Yes. $14 per hour

COMMENTS:  The Ballroom on Courtney Place is a long established pool hall which has heaps of pool and snooker tables and is often used as a good place to pre-load before hitting some of the other bars and clubs.  The big drawback with this place is the use fee of $14 per hour, however, the boards are good quality and well lit.  I noticed last time I was there they do a daytime special on the pool tables, $9 until 6pm and this special may well apply to darts as well. There is a lot of space to play with the dart boards tucked out of the way of the pool punters.  The oche is a drawn line on the floor.  The beer situation is OK with some bottled craft beer in the fridge.
